I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Worcester Academy's production of Helen last weekend. What a special night!
First of all, I was born in Worcester and grew up in Worcester county.
Second of all, I did my very first show on the campus of Worcester Academy when I was 9.
It was such a gift to see such a beautifully realized production, led by Eliza Hale (Director), Jared Field (Music Director), and an old theater chum of mine from childhood, Jennifer Dowdle (Choreographer).
The cast was so great! There was so much heart, soul, and humor in their performances. The student crew ran the show like Broadway professionals! And I got to meet all of them after the show! Their enthusiasm and joy reminded me why I do what I do.
While there were so many wonderful moments that night, both on and off the stage, one of the moment that really stuck with me was when a woman in the audience came up to me and said that the message of the show was so important right now.
I agree. It's a message about hope, resilience, and unification. And the world needs to hear it. And I think that young people are the best people to deliver that message right now.
I am so grateful that I had a chance to be uplifted on Saturday night by such beauty and truth.
