Hold on to what is good, even if it's a handful of earth.
-- Hopi prayer
Believe it or not, every once in a while, I look up from my script and/or computer and realize that there are other things going on in the world that have nothing to do with a little twirp named Helen, our impending showcase, or what has become my very insular world.
And thank god for that. What a small and limited life I'd be living if I became so out of touch with real conflicts, struggles, losses and heartaches...as opposed to the ones Robby and I are trying to create with words and music for the stage.
It's easy to get consumed by projects such as this one...and somewhat necessary, but let's just put Helen aside for today, and send as many healing thoughts, energy, prayers (whatever form you personally believe in), to the hundreds and thousands of people suffering from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
And personally, it's a good reminder to myself that even though my life might feel like a "perfect storm" at times, I've got a lot more than a handful of earth to hold on to.
