"The world is a tough place--deal with it."
~Mr.G, Summer Heights High
In light of our recent hate emails and a lovely visit from Australia's National Film & Sound Archive Director last week, I thought I would bring Mr. G into the Helen picture. Oh, how I'd love to see what he would do with Helen on 86th St.
In case you are wondering just who Mr.G is, he is one of the three characters that the brilliant Chris Lilley played on the Australian television show, "Summer Heights High" (also aired on HBO).
Mr. G is the drama teacher at Summer Heights High, who with absolute earnestness and intensity, dreams of putting on the best musical the school has ever seen. If you haven't seen the series and you like mockumentaries/shows about teens/theatre/teachers, watch the whole series (available through Netflix). You won't regret it. Or if you just want to learn more about Mr.G there are brilliant clips of his character in action on YouTube, here.
With auditions for two child replacements upon us in a week, I thought I'd see how Mr. G handles his pre-audition prep.
Rats! If only we had done Mr.G's psychological assessment prior to our initial auditions, we could have avoided the whole hate email/death wish saga.
